 Ashwell and the surrounding area

Ashwell is a very old village dating back to Roman times. The 'Ashwell Hoard' of Roman treasure was found in 2002 (now in the British Museum) and it is a popular area for treasure hunting. The village has a church featuring graffiti dating back to the Black Death, a museum displaying artefacts of local life through the ages and a host of beautiful, historic buildings.

The village hosts a number of events throughout the year from Ashwell at Home to a Music Festival (both in May) Ashwell Country Show (August Bank Holiday Monday) and Book Fair (October). Visitors are made very welcome.

Nearby attractions include easy access to Cambridge (by car or train) and London, with a large number of National Trust/English Heritage properties within 25 miles of Ashwell and miles of beautiful surrounding countryside - ideal for walking or cycling.
